At Թϱ, we take great pride in celebrating the achievements of our students long after they leave our classrooms. Their successes reflect not only academic excellence, but also the confidence, curiosity and global perspective that we strive to nurture throughout their educational journey.

One such example is former Hastings student Sofía Ramos, whose remarkable path has led her to an exceptional international opportunity. Following her gap year, Sofía will join the prestigious Dual Degree Programme between Trinity College Dublin and Columbia University, where she will study European Studies and Political Science.

This highly selective programme allows students to study at two world-renowned institutions while developing a truly international academic perspective. For Sofía, the opportunity represents the next chapter in a journey shaped by ambition, intellectual curiosity and a willingness to embrace challenges beyond traditional pathways.

Reflecting on her time at Թϱ, Sofía highlights the school’s emphasis on developing well-rounded individuals beyond academic achievement alone. She believes one of the most valuable aspects of her education was the encouragement to think independently, explore different possibilities and develop the confidence to pursue unconventional opportunities.

Her experience extended far beyond the classroom. At just fourteen years old, Sofía worked alongside school leaders on sustainability initiatives, helping oversee projects related to forest planting and the implementation of solar panels across Hastings campuses. Experiences such as these allowed her to develop leadership skills, responsibility and a broader understanding of the impact young people can have within their communities.

Currently completing a gap year with Baret Scholars, Sofía is embracing a truly global experience before beginning university. Her journey has already taken her to destinations such as Jaipur, with future experiences planned in Shanghai and Seoul, providing further opportunities for cultural exchange, personal growth and international understanding.

Sofía’s story is a powerful example of what it means to become future-ready. Her achievements reflect not only academic success, but also adaptability, resilience and a global mindset—qualities that are increasingly important in an interconnected world.

At Թϱ, we believe education is about preparing students not only for examinations and university, but for meaningful lives as engaged global citizens. Sofía’s journey demonstrates how academic excellence, combined with curiosity, character and real-world experiences, can open doors to extraordinary opportunities.

We are incredibly proud of Sofía and look forward to following the next stages of her academic and personal journey. We have no doubt she will continue to make a positive impact wherever her path takes her.

International Fair 2026 /school-news/international-fair-2026/ Wed, 27 May 2026 08:26:48 +0000 /?post_type=school_news&p=18589 The post International Fair 2026 appeared first on Թϱ.

Once again, Թϱ came together at Sobradiel to celebrate one of the most vibrant and anticipated events of the year: the International Fair 2026. Filled with colour, music, traditional dress, international cuisine and activities from around the world, the event was a joyful reflection of the diversity, warmth and community spirit that define life at Hastings.

Throughout the day, the school grounds were transformed into a lively multicultural celebration, where families, students, staff and visitors had the opportunity to explore traditions, flavours and experiences representing countries from across the globe. International stalls, beautifully decorated with national colours, handmade displays and cultural symbols, created an immersive atmosphere that brought the Hastings community together in a truly special way.

One of the highlights of the fair was the incredible variety of food stalls organised by families from different nationalities within our school community. From Indian samosas and chai to Mexican snacks and traditional sweets, visitors were able to discover and enjoy flavours from many different cultures while learning more about the traditions behind them. The stalls also featured crafts, games and interactive activities that encouraged students to engage with cultures in a fun and memorable way.

The International Fair also included the much-loved toy tombola, where children enthusiastically explored donated toys, books and games while supporting a charitable cause. The atmosphere throughout the event was filled with excitement, generosity and connection, as students and families shared experiences beyond the classroom environment.

Beyond the celebration itself, the International Fair carried an important purpose. All proceeds raised from the event will go towards the NGOs Hogar El Olivo and Los Chicos de José y Leo, both supported by our school community. Through this contribution, a day filled with culture, joy and togetherness becomes a meaningful act of solidarity and real impact.

We are especially grateful to Friends of Hastings for their dedication, organisation and care in bringing the fair to life year after year. Events like this would not be possible without the generosity, creativity and commitment of so many families, staff, volunteers and members of our wider community working together.

At Թϱ, we believe that internationalism is not only something students learn about in the classroom, but something they experience through shared traditions, meaningful interactions and real human connections. The International Fair 2026 was a beautiful reminder of the power of community to celebrate diversity while supporting causes that matter.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to every family who joined us at Sobradiel, contributed their time, brought energy to the event and helped create such a joyful atmosphere. Thank you for being there, for supporting the cause and for making this year’s International Fair such a special and successful day.

Once again, the Nexus Building became home to a vibrant celebration of creativity as our Year 12 and Year 13 students presented their Art and Photography Exhibition 2026. The exhibition showcased an extraordinary collection of work developed throughout the academic year, highlighting the imagination, dedication and artistic growth of our students across a wide variety of media and themes.

Families, staff and students were welcomed into a dynamic gallery space filled with paintings, photography, mixed media installations, fashion-inspired pieces and conceptual artwork. Each project reflected not only technical skill and creativity, but also the personal stories, ideas and reflections that inspired the students throughout their artistic journeys.

The exhibition transformed the Nexus Building into an immersive creative environment, where visitors could experience the diversity of styles and perspectives explored by our students. From deeply personal narratives and explorations of identity to thought-provoking social themes and experimental artistic techniques, every display demonstrated a strong sense of individuality and purpose.

Throughout the exhibition, students presented their work with exceptional professionalism and confidence, speaking thoughtfully about their creative processes, influences and artistic intentions. Their ability to communicate the meaning behind their projects reflected the depth of research, experimentation and commitment invested in each piece over the course of the year.

The Photography displays captured particularly striking visual narratives, using composition, lighting and symbolism to explore themes such as connection, self-expression, memory and transformation. Alongside these works, the Art projects showcased an impressive range of approaches, incorporating painting, sculpture, textiles, illustration and multimedia techniques to create visually engaging and emotionally resonant pieces.

Beyond the artistic outcomes themselves, the exhibition celebrated the importance of creativity as a means of communication, reflection and personal growth. The event offered students an opportunity to share their voices and perspectives with the wider school community, while also encouraging meaningful conversations around art, culture and identity.

At Թϱ, we believe that the arts play a fundamental role in helping students develop confidence, critical thinking and creative independence. The exhibition was a powerful reflection of the passion, resilience and originality nurtured within our Art and Photography departments, as well as the supportive environment that encourages students to take creative risks and express themselves authentically.

We are incredibly proud of all our Year 12 and Year 13 students for the hard work, vision and dedication they demonstrated throughout the exhibition process. Their work reflected not only outstanding artistic ability, but also curiosity, courage and a genuine commitment to creative exploration.

Our sincere thanks also go to the Art and Photography teachers for their continuous guidance, encouragement and inspiration throughout the students’ creative journeys. The exhibition stood as a wonderful celebration of artistic achievement and a testament to the exceptional talent within our school community.

Թϱ – Book Week 2026 /school-news/book-week-2026-celebrating-stories-creativity/ Mon, 18 May 2026 10:06:58 +0000 /?post_type=school_news&p=18530 The post Թϱ – Book Week 2026 appeared first on Թϱ.

During the second semester, pupils across Թϱ came together to celebrate Book Week 2026, with reading placed at the heart of learning throughout the school. With a special focus on stories from different cultures around the world, children explored new perspectives, discovered traditional tales and travelled across continents through the power of books and storytelling.

Throughout the week, classrooms were filled with imagination, discussion and creativity as students immersed themselves in literature from a wide range of backgrounds and traditions. The celebration highlighted not only the importance of reading in developing literacy skills, but also its ability to foster empathy, curiosity and cultural understanding.

One of the most exciting activities of the week was the school-wide classroom door competition, where each class transformed their classroom entrance into the cover of a favourite book. The results were truly impressive, with students demonstrating incredible attention to detail, originality and teamwork. From colourful illustrations to carefully crafted decorations, every door brought a different story vividly to life and transformed the school corridors into a celebration of literature and creativity.

We were also delighted to welcome parents into school to share stories with the children, helping to create a warm and collaborative reading environment across the community. These shared reading moments reflected the important role families play in nurturing a lifelong love of books and learning.

To mark World Book Day on 23rd April, pupils also took part in a special book swap inspired by the tradition of sharing books and roses. With the support of our Spanish department, children created beautiful handmade roses to accompany the books selected for the exchange. Each book was carefully wrapped, encouraging pupils not to judge a story by its cover, but instead to choose based on thoughtful reviews written by their classmates.

This activity became a wonderful way to promote reflective reading and meaningful recommendations between students, while also encouraging excitement around discovering new stories and authors.

The celebrations continued with students and staff coming dressed as their favourite book characters, bringing beloved stories to life across the school. From classic literary figures to modern fictional heroes, the costumes added colour, enthusiasm and a strong sense of community to the final days of Book Week.

Children also learned and performed a special song about reading, which they greatly enjoyed sharing throughout the celebrations. The joy and enthusiasm seen across the school reflected the important place reading holds within our learning community.

At Թϱ, we believe that reading opens doors to imagination, creativity and understanding. Book Week 2026 was a wonderful reminder of the power stories have to connect people, inspire curiosity and encourage children to become confident, thoughtful and enthusiastic learners.

During the second term, our Year 9 students had the opportunity to visit The Club at Juegaterapia, taking part in a meaningful and inspiring experience centred around creativity, empathy and emotional wellbeing. The visit allowed students to gain a deeper understanding of the foundation’s remarkable work supporting children undergoing cancer treatment, while also reflecting on the importance of compassion, human connection and community support.

Throughout the visit, students learned how Juegaterapia uses play, creativity and positive experiences to help improve the emotional wellbeing of children and families during difficult moments. The foundation’s spaces are carefully designed to create environments where children can feel safe, inspired and free to express themselves beyond the realities of hospital treatment. Experiencing this firsthand gave students valuable insight into the transformative power of creativity and the impact small acts of kindness can have on others.

The experience encouraged students to think more deeply about the role empathy plays within society and the responsibility we all share in supporting those around us. Through conversations, shared activities and moments of reflection, students explored how emotional wellbeing can be nurtured through connection, imagination and generosity. The visit became not only an opportunity to learn about an important cause, but also a chance for students to engage with the values of solidarity and social awareness in a real and meaningful way.

A particularly special aspect of the experience was the collaboration with Louise Pepper and her family, whose UK-based business, The Craft Outlet Store
, generously donated a wide range of arts and crafts materials to the foundation. These resources will now be used in creative workshops and activities for children undergoing treatment, helping provide moments of joy, expression and imagination when they are needed most.

The donated materials highlighted the importance of creativity as a tool for comfort, communication and emotional support. Seeing the spaces where these resources will be used helped students appreciate how artistic activities can offer children opportunities to express themselves, build confidence and experience moments of normality and happiness during challenging times.

The visit also reinforced the importance of collaboration between schools, families and charitable organisations in creating positive change within the wider community. At Թϱ, we strongly value opportunities that encourage students to look beyond the classroom and engage with meaningful social initiatives that help develop empathy, responsibility and compassion. Experiences such as this play an important role in shaping thoughtful, socially aware young people who understand the value of kindness and community engagement.

We are incredibly proud of our Year 9 students for the maturity, respect and enthusiasm they demonstrated throughout the visit. Their openness, curiosity and willingness to engage so thoughtfully with the experience reflected the values we aim to nurture across our school community.

Our sincere thanks go to Juegaterapia for welcoming our students and sharing the inspiring work they carry out every day, as well as to Louise Pepper and The Craft Outlet Store
for their generosity and support. Together, these experiences remind us of the power of creativity, connection and compassion in making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

On Tuesday, 29th April, the sixth floor of the MM8 building was transformed into an inspiring art gallery, displaying the outstanding final projects of our Year 13 A Level Art and Photography students. Over the course of two academic years, these students have poured their passion, ideas and talent into truly meaningful pieces. The exhibition was a journey through fashion, photography, painting, animation and personal storytelling.

Carla’s project paid tribute to Asian fashion and culture, inspired by her formative years living in China. Her beautifully crafted designs — including a striking piece titled Chinese Seal — reflected traditional Chinese influences blended with her own fashion vision. Incorporating artistic styles into wearable forms, Carla’s work offered a unique fusion of art and culture. Her passion for fashion was evident throughout her collection, and we are excited to see her continue her journey studying fashion in Italy next year.

Elizabeth explored the concept of union in her deeply reflective project. Through paintings and animations, she expressed how we are all connected to those who came before us, using marks left behind — such as cave paintings and tree carvings — as symbols of shared human experience. Using oil paints, pastels, gouache and coloured pencils, her mixed media approach brought this timeless idea to life. Elizabeth will continue her creative path by studying animation here in Madrid.

Sofia’s photography project centred on self-care, born from her personal journey moving from Buenos Aires to Madrid. Her visual storytelling depicted the transformation from unhealthy habits to positive routines that nourish the self. Through this exploration, Sofia not only shared her own growth but also offered a universally relevant message. The project was a beautiful reflection on healing, change and self-awareness — an important step as she pursues a future in the arts.

Betty’s photography project delved into the idea of connections. Her thoughtful narrative explored how we build connections — first with ourselves during adolescence, then with others, and finally with nature. She also drew inspiration from the red string theory, weaving together personal, social and environmental ties. Betty’s work reminded us how connection is not only essential for wellbeing, but also deeply rooted in human experience. She plans to study marketing and design, integrating photography into her future creative work.

We are incredibly proud of all our Year 13 students for their hard work, vision and courage in sharing their stories through art. Our thanks also go to Ramón Amorós and Blanca Osset, their teachers and mentors, for guiding and inspiring them along the way.

At Թϱ, we believe in offering our students a wide range of enriching experiences that go beyond the classroom. One of the highlights of the school year are our incredible ski trips, which allow students to combine adventure, learning, and personal growth. Organised by our dedicated Enrichment Department, these trips provide students with the opportunity to explore new destinations, learn valuable life skills, and create lasting memories with their peers.

Astún Ski Trip

For our younger students, the ski trip to the snowy slopes of Astún was an unforgettable adventure. Year 2 to Year 6 students embarked on this exciting journey, learning the basics of skiing in a safe and supportive environment. With enthusiastic instructors and plenty of snow, each student had the chance to develop their skiing skills, build confidence, and enjoy the stunning mountain views. The trip not only enhanced their physical abilities but also fostered teamwork and perseverance, making it a wonderful experience for all involved.

Andorra Ski Trip

For our older students in Years 10-12, the Andorra ski trip was the perfect way to enjoy some time away from the classroom while challenging themselves on more advanced slopes. Nestled in the heart of the Pyrenees, Andorra offered an ideal setting for skiing and snowboarding. Whether beginners or seasoned skiers, all students had the opportunity to enhance their skills with professional instructors. The trip also provided a chance for students to bond outside of the academic environment, fostering a sense of camaraderie and independence.

Boí Taüll Experience

This year, students from Year 5 to Year 10 were given the incredible opportunity to experience the slopes of Boí Taüll, one of the most stunning ski resorts in Spain. Located in the beautiful Catalan Pyrenees, Boí Taüll is renowned for its breathtaking views and excellent skiing conditions. Our students had a fantastic time exploring the resort, improving their skiing technique, and enjoying the winter landscape. Some of our students even earned diplomas for their impressive skiing abilities, a testament to their hard work and determination on the slopes.

A Supportive, Fun, and Memorable Experience

Each of the ski trips at Թϱ is more than just a fun break from routine; it’s a chance for students to challenge themselves, develop new skills, and create lasting memories with their friends and teachers. These experiences are made possible by a dedicated team of teachers and staff, all of whom ensure the safety, well-being, and enjoyment of the students. Whether helping on the ski slopes or offering support with other needs, our staff is there every step of the way, making the trip unforgettable.

The commitment of our Enrichment Department and teachers makes each ski trip a resounding success, fostering both growth and adventure. As we look ahead to the next round of ski trips, we’re excited to continue providing our students with opportunities that help them become well-rounded individuals, creating bonds and life lessons that will last a lifetime.

A Heartwarming Winter Festival and a Meaningful Holiday Season at Hastings /school-news/a-heartwarming-winter-festival-and-a-meaningful-holiday-season-at-hastings/ Thu, 09 Jan 2025 11:13:23 +0000 /?post_type=school_news&p=16412 The post A Heartwarming Winter Festival and a Meaningful Holiday Season at Hastings appeared first on Թϱ.

This December, the Hastings community celebrated the season with an unforgettable Winter Festival, filled with joy, creativity, and a strong sense of togetherness. The event, which brought together teachers, students, and parents, was more than just a celebration, it was a chance to give back and make a real impact.

The festivities kicked off with an array of fun activities, including games, story-telling carol singing, and a treasure hunt. There was also delicious food to enjoy, with everyone coming together to create a warm, festive atmosphere. But beyond the fun and excitement, the Winter Festival had a meaningful cause at its heart.

Thanks to the generous support of our community, we raised significant funds to support two important initiatives. A portion of the funds was donated to Ripple Africa, helping to support education and healthcare in communities that need it most. But perhaps the most touching part of the festival was the impact it had on the Casa Ronald McDonald in Madrid.

With the funds raised, we were able to purchase and deliver over 1000€ worth of toys to the children and families staying at the Casa Ronald McDonald, an incredible initiative that provides support to families with children undergoing treatment at the Hospital Niño Jesús. A few of our volunteers had the chance to visit the Casa Ronald McDonald, learning more about the cause and seeing firsthand how their efforts are helping those in need.

This visit was a powerful reminder of how our collective efforts can make a real difference in the lives of others, especially during the holiday season.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of the Hastings families, students, volunteers, and friends of Hastings who helped make this day such a success. Your kindness and generosity truly embodied the spirit of the season and helped us raise funds for causes close to our hearts. The Winter Festival was a wonderful example of what can be achieved when we come together to spread joy and make the world a better place.

Take a look at the pictures below to relive the magic of the Winter Festival and our visit to Casa Ronald McDonald. These moments truly reflect the spirit of our community and the difference we’re making together.
